Myrle Strickland Lee

HICKOX — Mrs. Myrle Strickland Lee, 78 of Hickox, passed away Tuesday afternoon, December 10, 2024 at her residence after an extended illness.

Born in Jesup, Mrs. Lee’s parents were Everette Strickland and Henrietta Strickland.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Aley Lee; three great grandchildren, River Nichols and two angel babies; a twin sister, Myrtle Griffin; three brothers, Everette Strickland Jr., Vernon Strickland and Norris Strickland.

Mrs. Lee was a homemaker, caretaker, and loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of Hickox Baptist Church. Mrs. Lee loved the Lord, her family, and her church family.

She was also a member of the Hickox Baptist Church Quilting Ladies Club and the Brantley County Busy Bees Quilting Club. Mrs. Lee spent most of her life quilting for others.

She made hundreds of quilts and pillows for people who were recovering from illness or injury. People throughout the community appreciated her kindness and generosity.

Mrs. Lee loved visiting residents at Bayview Nursing Home. She also enjoyed sewing, playing cards, playing with puzzles, and spending time with her family.

Hickox, David Lee (Stephanie) of Hickox and Daryl Hand (Karen) of Nahunta; 11 grandchildren, Jessica Edenfield, Chrissy Nichols, Travis Hand, Michael Lee, Tiffany Barnes, Chelsea Hand, Emily Smith, Courtland Kight, Franklin Lee, Kaycee Douglas,and Jordan Smith; 34 great grandchildren; her sister, Marion Clements of Brunswick; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

A funeral service was held Friday morning, December 13, 2024 at Hickox Baptist Church.

Rev. Mike Hendrix, Rev. Gerald Johns and Rev. Jamie Giddens officiated the service.

Burial followed in Bethlehem Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hickox Baptist Church for their community outreach programs.

Pallbearers were Randle Lee, David Lee, Daryl Hand, Travis Hand, Franklin Lee, Jordan Smith, Alan Strickland, Gary Strickland, Darl Keen and Anthony Lee.

Honorary pallbearers were the Hickox Baptist Church Ladies Sunday School Class and Quilting Club.

Arrangements were with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
