WAYCROSS — Delton Woodrow Drawdy, 82, died early Thursday morning, December 12, 2024 at his residence following an extended illness.
Drawdy was a native of Hazlehurs. He had made his home in Ware County since 1984. Drawdy was the son of the late Richard Fulton Drawdy and Bernice Hewitt Drawdy. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Wanda Hampton and Joyce Shumpert; a brother, Jerol Drawdy; and a son-in-law, Stevie Gill.
Drawdy retired with the rank of Tech Sergeant with the United States Air Force in 1984 after 21 years of active duty. During his military service, Drawdy served in the Vietnam War. He later retired from Satilla Regional Medical Center Maintenance Department in 2011 after 19 years of service.
Drawdy was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and the Adult Co Ed #4 Sunday School Class. He also enjoyed woodworking, camping and gardening.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Virginia “Jenny” Jackson Drawdy of Waycross; three daughters, Lisa Lytle (husband Richard) of Hoboken, Nancy Hughston (husband Jeff) of Vidalia and Susan Lariscy (husband Terry) of Waycross; four grandchildren, Michelle Mitchell (husband Ben), Zackary Lytle (wife Taylor), Amanda Lumly (husband Lee) and Melanie Driggers (husband Simmie); six great grandchildren, Jackson Mitchell, Hudson Michell, Lawson Mitchell, Emma Lumley, Stephen Lumley and Henry Driggers; three sisters, Iris Hipps of Waycross, Inez Butler of Hilliard, Fla., and Shirley Ammons of Waynesville; two brothers, Richard Drawdy (wife JoAnn) of Waycross and Ricky Drawdy (wife Jennifer) of Illinois, his faithful pet, Chloe; and numerous other relatives.
