Special to the WJH WAYCROSS — Brantley County Commissioner Andy Riggins has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Unison Behavioral Health.
Riggins was appointed as the board’s representative from Brantley County, one of eight counties the public corporation serves in the area. He is a member of the Brantley County Board of Commissioners, being elected in 2022.
Riggins said he was “honored to serve on Unison’s Board of Directors. This organization has so many talented people that serve our area.”
The new board member retired from Georgia Pacific after 39 years of service, 25 in a supervisory capacity. He and his wife, Vicki, are the parents of two children and also have a grandson.
Unison, which has a staff of more than 320, serves more than 5,000 individuals annually in its eight-county area of Atkinson, Bacon, Brantley, Charlton, Clinch, Coffee, Pierce and Ware.
Services include behavioral health, substance use and intellectual developmental disabilities services including mental health counseling for children, adolescents and adults, day services, supported employment, supportive housing, substance use residential care and detox services, and crisis stabilization services.
