Special to The Beacon (UNDATED) — Hoboken Elementary School kindergarten teacher Terri Melton and Nahunta Primary School first grade teacher Tina Thrift have been nominated for National Life Group’s 202425 LifeChanger of the Year award.
Sponsored by the National Life Group Foundation, LifeChanger of the Year recognizes and rewards the very best K-12 educators and school district employees across the United States who are making a difference in the lives of students by exemplifying excellence, positive influence, and leadership.
Melton was nominated by colleague Prudence Harris, who describes her as “patient, kind, and caring.”
Melton ensures students feel welcome, relaxed, and prepared when they enter her classroom. Every morning, she checks that every student has the proper materials before beginning the lessons. From pencils to shoelaces, she provides students with the tools they need to succeed.
“She spreads peace, joy, and hope to everyone,' said Harris.
Thrift was nominated by colleague Kimberly Cook for her dedication as a firstgrade teacher. Her unwavering support and compassion have enriched the educational experience of the entire school community.
As Thrift embarks on her final year at Nahunta Primary School, Cook highlighted the impact she has had on her students over the years, including Cook’s daughter.
“Ms. Thrift pours her heart and soul into everything she does,” said Cook. “She has truly touched my heart for what she showed my daughter this year and last, even though she is no longer her teacher.”
