The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will return to Pierce County this week.
The FEMA Disaster Recovery Center will be open from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. now through Saturday, December 21, at the Southeast Georgia Regional Agriculture Center (formerly the NFC Building), at 705 College Avenue, Blackshear. The center will be open on the second floor of the building. Elevators are available.
Pierce County has been included in the federal disaster declaration for Hurricane Helene.
FEMA teams will be available to help citizens complete applications, update their registrations and/or answer any other FEMA related questions.
FEMA’s individuals and households program (IHP) provides financial assistance and direct services to eligibile individuals and households affected by the disaster.
Important things to note:
• It is not too late to apply for assistance or appeal a denial.
• FEMA teams can help explain any letters received about your claim.
• You can apply for assistance if your homeowner’s claim was denied or doesn’t cover the full costs of your damages.
• FEMA assistance is a grant, not a loan, and does not have to be paid back.
• Renters may qualify for assistance if they had damage to personal property or were displaced.
