The city of Blackshear will have a new clerk to aid in the smooth operation of business in city hall starting January 1, 2025. The current city clerk Jenny Grant and her assistant Angel Robson will effectively switch titles and duties in the coming new year.
In their final regular meeting of 2024, the Blackshear City Council, unanimously voted to approve the coming change in roles and officially appoint Robson as the new city clerk. Grant, who has served as city clerk for 5 years, wants to step down to a more part-time capacity, “around 20 or so hours a week” prior to a full retirement. Robson has worked closely with Grant and learned the job over the last two years, having previously worked for the Blackshear Police Department for 19 years. In addition to her new role, Robson will continue to serve as clerk of the municipal court, a position she has served in for 15 years.
“We’ll just play it by ear. Some weeks she’ll be here four days a week, others maybe just one day a week,” Mayor Brooks said, reassuring the council that Grant would still be available if her help or expertise was needed. All those gathered expressed confidence in Robson’s ability to step into her predecessor’s shoes and effectively conduct the city’s business.
Robson is the wife of Marty Robson and has three children, Marla Dryden, Jamie Robson and Megan Cady.
