WAYCROSS — Mrs. Emily Rebecca “Becky” Bennett Johnson, 49, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross following an extended illness.
She was born in Pierce County to Kenneth Lamar Bennett and Linda Taylor Bennett. Mrs. Johnson was a 1993 graduate of Ware County High School. She graduated
Johnson
from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor’s Degree in criminal justice, and later received her education degree.
Mrs. Johnson taught throughout the south Georgia area, but most recently was employed by the State of Georgia with the Department of Juvenile Justice in Ware County as a mathematics teacher. At one time, she was employed at the Ware County Sheriff’s Department 911 Center.
At an early age, Mrs. Johnson attended Crossview Church of God of Prophecy, but most recently attended Trinity Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Buster “Papa” and Nell McClain and Dolan Taylor; and her paternal grandparents, Paul and Mildred Bennett.
She is survived by her husband, Samuel Martin Johnson, II of Waycross; her mother, Linda Taylor Bennett of Waycross; her father, Kenneth Lamar Bennett (wife Kim Edwards- Bennett) of Waycross; and several fur babies.
A funeral service was held Saturday, December 7 at Trinity Methodist Church. Burial followed in Kettle Creek Cemetery.
