WAYCROSS — Mrs. Sara Maryse Roberson Fort, 71, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Baptist Village Retirement Communities after a brief illness.
She was born January 12, 1953 in Waycross to the late Oscar R. “Bob” Roberson and Virginia Inez Beverly Roberson. Mrs. Fort att ended school in Ware County and Pierce County where she graduated in 1971. She was a member of Winona Park Methodist Church and retired from the Department of Family and Child Services after having worked for the Ware County School Board and the Ware County Health Department.
In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Richard Fort; brother, John W. Roberson, of Dallas, Texas; her maternal grandparents, Forest Jasper Beverly, Sr. and Margaret Inez Beverly; and paternal grandparents, Oscar R. Roberson, Sr. and Sara Cox Roberson.
Survivors include her son, Joey Fort (Mary Beth) of Waycross; five grandchildren, Kierson, Khoen, Mary Kailyn, Koralyn and Kamdon Fort; two aunts, Betty Jo Gibbs of Brunswick, and Nell Clark of Blackshear; two sisters-in-law, Donna Wilson of Waycross, and Charlene Ehalich (Mike) of Big Canoe, Ga.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Fort was known for her kindness to others and for her love and devotion to her son, Joey, and her daughter-in-law, Mary Beth, whom she referred to as a daughter. She was a loving grandmother who was happiest when she was spending time with her grandchildren.
A graveside service was held Saturday, December 7 at Kettle Creek Cemetery.
