Marcia Jean Thrift

WAYCROSS — Mrs. Marcia Jean Thrift, 65, passed away suddenly Saturday, December 7, 2024, at her residence in Waycross.

Mrs. Thrift was born in Waycross to the late Leonard Thrift and Pearlie Mae Rowell Thrift. She was employed as a paint specialist at Ware

Paint and Drywall, but most recently had the same position at Lee Hardware and Building Supplies. It was often said she never met a stranger. Mrs. Thrift touched many lives and will be deeply missed by everyone she crossed paths with.

In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her son, Jeffery James Thrift; an infant granddaughter, Callie Lee; a sister, Lulabelle Thrift Taylor; and a brother, William Bradford Thrift.

She is survived by a daughter, Mandy Matranga (Joey) of Waycross; a son, Travis Todd (Melissa) of Patterson; a son from another mother, Pedro Canales of Jacksonville, Fla.; five grandchildren, Harley Lee (Audrianna), Destiny Matranga (Dillon Carswell), Devan Matranga (Courtney), Courtney Toohey (Andrew), and Chesney Lee; nine great grandchildren, Addilyn Lee, Jaxon Matranga, Lenox Matranga, Bridget Cox, Bailey Cox, Anabelle Toohey, Millie Toohey, Lainey Toohey, and Adelyn Toohey; a sister, Vanessa Thrift Crowe (Bobby) of Waycross; her best friend, Merlene Spradley (Wayne) of Blackshear; an uncle, Dwight “J.D.” Rowell of Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would also like to mention her special happy hour friends at The Creek where she spent many afternoons.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 15 at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. The family will begin receiving friends at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
