Brothers win big bass of year

Former Pierce Countian McCoy Carter of Jacksonville, FL (left) and brother, Roman N. Carter of Hacklebarney are all smiles as they hold their treasured plaques, winning Big Bass of the Year. They received their plaques along with monetary honors from the 2024 Florida Xtreme Bass Series. Roman caught the winning 12 pound bass in May during their monthly tournament on Orange Lake, FL. This was the biggest bass weighed on any tournament day in all divisions during their 2024 Florida Xtreme Bass series. The brothers won a tournament on the St. John's River in 2022 and placed fourth on Orange Lake in 2023. Their families, including Roman's wife Serenity Carter commented, “We are so very proud of them. They work hard and fish hard! Their favorite hobby is bass fishing,” McCoy is a computer specialist in Jacksonville, and Roman is a mechanical engineer. Both are graduates of the former Blackshear High School and Pierce County High School and the former Waycross College, now South Georgia State College, going on to earn higher degrees at notable universities.
