Walter awarded PAGE Educator Grant

Walter

Kim Walter, a teacher at of Midway Elementary School (MES), received a 2024 Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) Educator Grant in the amount of $500.

With these funds, Walter will purchase a laying box and small hen house to add to the MES Ag Club’s current chicken coop. The Ag Club is expanding and they want to continue to add different breeds of chickens.

“The Ag Club students are passionate about maintaining the coop and taking care of the chickens,” Walter said. “This grant will not only allow us to expand our coop, but also provide a more enriching and diverse learning environment for our students.”

The grant from PAGE is a testament to Mrs. Walter’s commitment to agricultural education and her innovative approach to teaching. By integrating hands-on activities with academic learning, she ensures that students gain practical knowledge and skills that extend beyond the classroom.

“As the Ag Club continues to grow, the support from PAGE will undoubtedly help foster a deeper appreciation for agriculture among the students, preparing them for future endeavors in this vital field,” said MES Principal Dr. Brandi Todd “Midway Elementary School is proud to celebrate Mrs. Walter’s achievement and looks forward to the positive impact this grant will have on the school community.”

The PAGE Educator Grant program provides up to $100,000 annually to members throughout Georgia. These grants make it possible for hundreds of individual awardees each year to participate in professional learning, fund innovative projects and encourage students’ growth and development.

“PAGE is honored to support instruction and learning in Georgia’s schools through educator grants to our members throughout the state,” said Executive Director Craig Harper. “These additional resources contribute to all areas of student needs, from academics to the arts to health and well-being. The hundreds of applications received each year demonstrate the deep commitment Georgia educators have to enhancing school and classroom experiences for their students.”
