Brunswick chase ends in Brantley with arrest

Vonhollen

BRUNSWICK — A Glynn County man was arrested in eastern Brantley County following a twocounty chase Thursday involving both the Glynn County Police Department and Brantley County Sheriff’s Office.

Kenneth Vonhollen, 46, faces multiple charges following the December 5 chase that began on Norwich Street in Brunswick and its ending at a Brantley County address on Hwy. 32.

“Glynn County PD wishes to thank the Brantley County Sheriff’s Office for its prompt cooperation with this pursuit that led to Vonhollen’s arrest,” the department said.

Vonhollen was charged by the Glynn County Police Department (GCPD) with Fleeing an Officer, Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officers by Use of Threats or Violence, Driving on a Suspended License, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, Speeding and No Insurance, among other things.

Brantley County Sheriff Len Davis did not say what charges his department may bring agaist Vonhollen.

Officers with the GCPD pulled over Vonhollen’s Chevrolet Suburban for a traffic violation. Vonhollen fled when asked to exit the vehicle. The Suburban was seen speeding north on highway Ga. 27 by GCPD Officer Shane Nolen.

GCPD Officer Jonathan Miller, who made the traffic stop, and two other officers joined Nolen in the pursuit. The chase eventually led to highway Ga. 99, then Ga. 32 into Brantley County.

Entering Brantley County, policed asked sheriff’s deputies to take lead on the pursuit due to their familiarity with roads in that county.

Vonhollen eventually pulled into his parents’ residence on Ga. 32 and fled on foot into nearby woods. Officer Miller followed behind, eventually apprehending Vonhollen.

He remained at the Glynn County Detention Center Friday morning.

The investigation is still ongoing and anyone with information on the case is asked to contact the GCPD’s non-emergency line at 912-554-3645 or the Silent Witness hotline at 912-264-1333.
