WAYCROSS — Mr. Roy Taft, 70, of Waycross died late Saturday night, November 30, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House after an extended illness.

Taft was born in Millwood to the late Leon Taft and Fannie Jane Wilson Taft. He had made Waycross his home for most of his life. Taft retired from Wacona Elementary School, where he worked as their custodian.

He will forever be remembered for his big smile, witty sense of humor and love for fishing. More than anything, he loved every moment he was able to spend with his family, especially his nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Taft was preceded in death by one brother, Jackie Taft; and six sisters, Margie Barnett, Josie Harper, Ruby Sellers, Lehura Delk, Betty Murray and Dot Price.

Taft is survived by his sister, Virginia Walden of Waycross; his sister-inlaw, Shirley Taft of Huntsville, Ala.; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, December 7 in Little Utah Cemetery in Axson.
