WAYCROSS — Mrs. Jeanette Smart King, 74, died Sunday morning, December 1, 2024, at Memorial Satilla Health after an extended illness.
She was born July 25, 1950 in Waycross to the late J.D. Smart and Adaline Gray Smart. Mrs. King graduated from Waycross High School. She was a member of the Newbern Baptist Church.
Mrs. King was formerly employed by the Georgia Department of Corrections Probation Office and The Lakes at Laura Walker State Park. She will be remembered as a professional shopper, worldwide traveler, but most importantly a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, Mrs.King alsowas preceded in death by two brothers, Benny and Carley Smart.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Wallace Hiram King of Waycross; two children, Sonia Chancey (Javier) of Woodbine and Gary King (Jennifer) of Albany; grandchildren, Garrett and Zachary Chancey, and Samantha, Bailey, Gavin and Merrick King; sistersin- law, MaryAnn King and Linda Kay Walls; special niece and nephews, Kathy Riggins, Dr. Jim Smart and Robert Smart; and numerous other relatives.
A funeral service was held Tuesday, December 3 at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Telmore Cemetery.
