Two members of the staff at Waresboro Elementary School were honored by the Ware County Board of Education as Golden Achievement Award winners for November.
Custodian Terri Domagala was the classified award winner while special education teacher Annie Russell was the certified honoree.
Waresboro Principal Dr. Biff Lee introduced both staff members during the board’s November meeting.
Lee called Domagala a “perfectionist” while introducing her.
“Mrs. Domagala has served as a custodian at Waresboro for 10 years. She is a perfectionist, who takes a great deal of pride in her craft. Our school is consistently recognized for its cleanliness,” Lee said. “Our floors, especially, always seem to sparkle even as the year progresses.
“Terri is always dependable and very approachable amongst our staff and students. She is always quick to help when a need arises. Waresboro is blessed to have her, and she is a valuable asset to our Eagle family.”
Russell was a paraprofessional for eight years, and has served as a coteacher in special education the past six years, Lee said.
“Mrs. Russell is a 14year veteran of education,” Lee said. “ ... She monitors student progress, leads instruction, plans collaboratively, implements small group reading interventions, and assures students receive their appropriate accommodations to meet their educational needs. Mrs. Russell has been a fixture in the fourth-grade hallway and can be credited for having a major part in the success of this grade level.
“Mrs. Russell has become an expert in her field and has been willing to help and guide other special education teachers with various duties and paperwork. She is loved by all who meet her.”
