Unison board meets Dec. 5

Volunteers sought for Bicentennial The Ware County Bicentennial Committee is seeking volunteers for its celebration events Friday-Sunday, December 13-15.

Help is needed from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Hours and responsibilities are flexible for volunteers. Registration in advance is requested.

Volunteers are need to assist with set up, clean up, stage changes, facilitating games, manning jump houses, assisting guests with information requests, sales counter (swag), and hospitality duties.

Breakfast with Santa at Rec Dept.

The Ware County Recreation Department holds its ninth annual Breakfast with Santa from 9 to 11 a.m., Saturday, December 7 at the Trembling Earth Complex gym.

Each child attending can bring a gift to exchange. The price should range from $5-$10.

Because of his busy schedule, Santa will appear from 9 to 10:30 a.m. There will games, crafts and even a table to write Santa a letter.

Telmore Cemetery cleanup set Dec. 7 Telmore Cemetery will hold a cleanup session beginning at 8 a.m., Saturday, December 7.

The rural cemetery in northwest Ware County still has lots of debris from Hurricane Helene on sections of its grounds, said Harriette Hall, one of the cemetery’s overseers.

Hall requested those with relatives buried in the cemetery, Telmore community members, or any others willing to help come to the cemetery. She said the cleanup is extensive and will involve hauling away the debris for disposal at a location not far from the cemetery.

She said chainsaws, rakes, shovels, and pruners will be needed as well as a trailer.

‘Dash ‘n’ Dine’ in downtown Dec. 6 The annual Downtown Dash ‘n’ Dine Grinch Run will be held Friday, December 6 as part of the city’s “First Friday” celebration.

The event is sponsored by Satilla Advocacy Services in conjunction with the city. Race day registration will be at 5:30 p.m. with the 3K race to follow at 6:30. A mile run follows the 3K.

“First Friday” will feature food trucks, local vendors, and downtown stores and restaurants will be open for the evening. Lighting of the city’s Christmas Tree will be at 7 p.m.
