MES students win Christmas card contest

Midway Elementary School (MES) students have made their mark in the prestigious Satilla Rural Electric Membership Corporation (REMC) Christmas Card Contest. For the first time in six years of participation, the talented young artists from Midway have clinched the victory, marking a new milestone for the school.

In a heartwarming tale of creativity and determination, congratulations go to Lawson Davis, the regional 3rd grade winner, and the phenomenal Kayla Sergent, who dazzled the judges to win the Overall Regional Winner title with her breathtaking Christmas card design. Both students’ exceptional artwork showcases their artistic prowess and will bring some festive cheer to the community.

MES art teacher Athena Harwood, known for tirelessly supporting every student’s artistic journey, beamed with pride at the two winners’ accomplishments. “Their hard work and passion have truly paid off,” said Harwood.

Both Lawson and Kayla will be rewarded with a $25 Walmart gift card for their outstanding efforts. To celebrate the remarkable achievement, Kayla’s 5th grade art class will enjoy a special party in her honor.
