Brantley Middle splits with PCMS and Bacon

Brantley County Middle School’s Herons split with Pierce County Middle School and Bacon County Middle School to put a wrap on their pre-Thanksgiving schedule.

Brantley Middle lost a Southeast Georgia Middle School Athletic Conference heartbreaker to the Bears falling 32-31 Wednesday, November 20.

BCMS bounced back Thursday, November 21 to knock off the Red Raiders 43-28.

BEARVILLE — PCMS outscored the Herons by three points in the final period in rallying from a 22-20 deficit.

Moody scored 10 of his game-high 24 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Bears.

Brantley Middle’s Alex Keen scored 17 points connecting on five treys. The Herons hit seven threes for the game.

The visitors built a 13-4 first quarter lead drilling four treys. PCMS outscored the Herons 8-3 in the second period to cut the margin to 16-12 at intermission.

The Bears sliced two more points off the deficit during the third stanza outscoring Brantley Middle 8-6 to trail 22-20. Pierce Middle closed with a 12-9 scoring advantage.

Chase Murray followed Keen’s lead with four points. Kase Crews and Payton Jackson each contributed three points. Brooks Anderson and Steven Cook bagged two points apiece.

ALMA — Brantley Middle used a balanced scoring attack to ease past the Red Raiders.

Jackson (trey) grabbed game-high scoring honors finishing with 14 points to lead seven players in the scoring column with all scoring at least four points.

The Herons tripled up Bacon Middle 18-6 in the opening period. The home team cut the deficit by five points heading into intermission outscoring Brantley Middle 11-6 to trail 24-17.

The visitors used a 9-7 scoring advantage in the third quarter to increase their margin to 33-24. Brantley Middle outpointed the Red Raiders 10-4 in the final stanza.

Crews (two treys) followed Jackson’s lead finishing with eight points. Keen (trey) netted five points. Jacob Highsmith, Anderson, Murray and Cook contributed four points each
