Volunteers sought for Bicentennial
The Ware County Bicentennial Committee is seeking volunteers for its celebration events Friday-Sunday, December 13-15.
Help is needed from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Hours and responsibilities are flexible for volunteers. Registration in advance is requested.
Volunteers are need to assist with set up, clean up, stage changes, facilitating games, manning jump houses, assisting guests with information requests, sales counter (swag), and hospitality duties.

Breakfast with Santa at Rec Dept.
The Ware County Recreation Department holds its ninth annual Breakfast With Santa from 9 to 11 a.m., Saturday, December 7 at the Trembling Earth Complex gym.
Each child attending can bring a gift to exchange. The price should range from $5-$10.
Because of his busy schedule, Santa will appear from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
Besides eating breakfast with Santa, there will games, crafts and even a table to write Santa a letter.

Legion Post 517 has anniversary
American Legion John S. Sutton Post 517 holds its 76th anniversary celebration from 2 to 5 pm Saturday at the post, 710 Dorothy Street.
The 45 charter members who initiated the post November 15, 1948 will be honored in the celebration. For information, call Post Commander Larry Lockey at (912) 816-8581.
Barber, Ware BOE sworn in Dec. 2
New Ware County School Superintendent Dr. Lynn Barber and recently re-elected members of the Board of Education will be sworn in Monday, December 2.
The ceremony for board members Barry Deas, Edward “Buster” Tyre, Karen Ethridge, and Alisa Nelson and Supt. Barber will be at 9 a.m. in the office of Probate Judge Calvin Bennett at the Ware County Courthouse.
The board members won election to new fouryear terms while Dr. Barber, formerly assistantant supertindent and director of the county’s CTAE program, replaces the retiring Bert Smith.
Telmore Cemetery cleanup set Dec. 7
Telmore Cemetery will hold a cleanup session beginning at 8 a.m., Saturday, December 7.
The rural cemetery in northwest Ware County still has lots of debris from Hurricane Helene on sections of its grounds, said Harriette Hall, one of the cemetery’s overseers.
Hall requested those with relatives buried in the cemetery, others in the Telmore community or any others willing to help be at the cemetery. She said the cleanup is extensive and will involve hauling away the debris for disposal at a location not far from the cemetery.
She said chainsaws, rakes, shovels, pruners would be needed for the task as well as anyone with a trailer.
