Crossroads Christian Academy (CCA) broke ground on a new facility Thursday.
The ceremonial groundbreaking took place on the CCA campus on Golf Course Road.
“All praise goes to God,” said Brian Cannington, CCA Board Chairman and emcee for the ceremony. “Our prayer is that God will use this school to change people’s lives.”
CCA was first formed when a group of Christians met in 2017 with the idea of having a school that offered a classic education that is Christian based and “puts God first”.
Cannington praised CCA Board Vice Chairperson Dr. Joan Clark for her work to get the school fully accredited within three years.
Clark also made remarks telling

the crowd that her prayer is the school will train ambassadors for Christ who will go out and serve in the community.
The school first met in the old Crawford Street Baptist Church in Waycross, opening its doors with 18 students and seven staff members in 2018.
After outgrowing that building, CCA was relocated, but the new facility was damaged by a storm.
The Rev. Andy Peacock and New Life Church invited CCA to their campus. CCA then purchased the old Woodmen of the World Building.
CCA is growing and with its lower school and upper school on two different campuses, the plans are to build on the Woodmen tract so that the entire school can be unified in one place.
Currently, CCA is home to 163 students and 27 staff members.
Cannington laid out plans for the facility in the board’s vision for the school.
Plans call for the construction of three buildings in phases and converting the original Woodmen building to administration offices and a cafeteria.
Cannington said the first phase will include a building to house 10 classrooms. Eventually, two additional buildings will be constructed with the three linked by a courtyard.
The Rev. Jarrod Everson, CCA board chaplain and pastor of Deenwood Baptist Church in Waycross, offered the dedication prayer.
He cited Psalm 127, asking the Lord “to keep the house”.
After the dedication prayer, school board members, staff, administrators and students participated in the ceremonial groundbreaking.
Refreshments were served after the ceremony.
