Larry Mitchel Simmons, 70, of Alma, passed away suddenly early Wednesday afternoon, December 7, 2022 at the Bacon County Hospital in Alma.
Born January 22, 1952, in Alma, he was a son of Annie Merle McCorquedale Simmons and the late Nashone Milton Simmons. He lived all his life in Bacon County and was a 1970 graduate of Bacon County High School. He was retired as a police officer with the Alma Police Department and was a member of Lee’s Chapel Baptist Church.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Avery and Viola McCorquedale and his paternal grandparents, Alex and Avadale Simmons.
Survivors include his daughter, Ciara Simmons Lee (husband Joey), Patterson; grandson, Ramsey Lee, Patterson; step-daughter, Brandy Gill (husband Robbie), Blackshear; two step-grandchildren, Hunter Gill (wife Savannah) and Cole Gill, both of Blackshear; mother, Annie Merle Simmons, Alma; former wife and mother of his children, Patty Ivey, Waycross; two sisters, Sharon Moore, Alma and Brenda Moore (husband Glynn), Bickley; two brothers, Freddie Simmons (wife Christy) and Martin Simmons (wife Linda), both of Alma and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Visitation will be held from 10:30-11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, at Patterson Baptist Church.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12, from the Patterson Baptist Church.
