Kavis Omarsharé Baker Jr., known to everyone as “K. J.”, will be carrying on in his father’s military tradition, but he will be focusing on the air rather than the sea, having recently graduated from basic training with the United States Air Force (USAF) Baker is a 2023 Graduate of Ware County High School. Soon after, he also attended Coastal Pines in Waycross, graduating from the Lineman Program in 2023. After graduation, Baker was employed with Pike in Alma. After working with Pike, Baker decided he wanted to join the USAF.
In August 2024, Baker left for basic training in Lackland, Texas. His graduation ceremony was held October 9-10, following which Baker remained in Texas for his schooling. Attending the graduation ceremony was Baker’s father, Kavis Baker Sr, who is also serving in the military as a Chief in the U. S. Navy, currently stationed in Virginia. Baker Sr. has been in the Navy for twenty years, but will be retiring October 2025.
Accompanying Baker Sr. on the journey to Texas was Kavis Baker Jr.'s grandmother Patricia Campbell of Bristol, sister Tatianna Baker of Jacksonville, aunt Hattie Edwards of Jacksonville and his friend Abby Corbitt of Waycross.
Kavis Baker Jr. is also the son of Rochelle Baker of Waycross and the grandson of Beverly King of Waycross. His sister Kharisma Reed and brother Knowshon Reed, both also of Waycross, and his uncle Kelsey Baker of Odum wish him well on his new path.
