WAYCROSS — Mr. Joseph Wilson “J.W.” Mock, Jr., 71, died Friday morning, November 15, 2024, at Memorial Satilla Health after an extended illness.
He was born June 2, 1953 in Waycross to the late Joseph Wilson Mock, Sr. and Virginia Jo Gardener Mock. In 1971, Mr. Mock graduated from Waycross High School. He was employed by White Oak Plantation for 18 years, and he was a member of Youmans Chapel Baptist Church. Mr. Mock was an avid deer hunter, and he loved his family dearly.
In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by his sister, Gwendolyn Joyce Tillery, and brother, Jeffrey Mock.
Survivors include his wife, Phillis Batten Mock, of Blackshear; sister, Martha Hickox (Arthur) of Blackshear; brother, George Mock (Barbara) of Patterson; and brother-inlaw, Waldo Batten; as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held Monday November 18, at Youmans Chapel Baptist Church. Burial followed in Enon Cemetery in Pierce County.
