The monthly Waycross community blood drive is rapidly approaching, and the need for donors is great as the national emergency blood supply crisis continues.
The Red Cross requests all able blood donors — particularly those with O-type blood — make an effort to give between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday, November 25 at the Waycross Exchange Club building, 2401 Knight Avenue.
Dubberly’s Glass: Residential, Commercial and Auto, is the corporate sponsor for the November effort. The firm’s generous contribution enables the Waycross Area Blood Drive Volunteers to give away at random hundreds of dollars of door prize cash to donors. The grand prize will be $100.
“Dubberly's has been our monthly corporate sponsor during November for many years,” said Gary Griffin, a member of the local volunteer group. “They’re good civic partners who believe in doing the right thing for the community. Tell them you appreciate it.” Breezy’s Boutique gift shop and Captain Joe’s Seafood will give other random door prizes. Griffin said those who donate will have better than 4 to 1 odds of winning a door prize. Those who last donated in September or earlier will be eligible to give again Monday.
Refreshments are provided to donors, thanks to the volunteers and select community businesses.
“We thank Waycross Coca-Cola and Domino’s Pizza for contributing refreshments,” said Griffin, who added the Red Cross and volunteers also provide snacks, fruit and pastries.
