Thomas Jerry Smith

Thomas Jerry Smith, 69, of Bristol, passed away Wednesday evening, November 30, 2022, at the Bacon County Hospital in Alma.

Born in Waycross November 13, 1953, he had lived in Pierce County all his life. He was a 1971 graduate of Bacon County High School and was a life-long farmer being the 2020 Georgia Centennial Farm Award recipient. His hobbies included farming and collecting toy tractors which he loved to show off. He loved history and researching ancestry and talking to people. He was very proud of his community and was always there to help others. He was a member of Martha Memorial Methodist Church.  

He was a son of the late Thomas Jefferd “T.J.” and Nora Mae Perry Smith.  He was also preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Jimmie Sue and James Carter.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Micki Brooks Smith, Bristol; his daughter and son-in-law, Ashley and Adrian Fletcher, Tifton; his sister, Jan (Greg) Murphy, Douglas; his brother, A.E. “Gene” (Janice) Smith, Albany; three sisters-in-law, Trish (Eddie) Horne, Guyton, Leigh (Greg) Lewis, Alma and Robbie (Rickey) Taylor, Alma; several nieces and nephews including a special nephew and business partner, Brad Murphy, Patterson; his pet dogs, Gracie and Gencie and several other relatives.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, from the Pearson-Dial Chapel with the Rev. Tony Walsh and the Rev. Joe Thigpen officiating.

Interment will be in the Martha Memorial Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Marty Hilton, Stacy Yeomans, Nathan Rowland, Corey Horne, Colyn Bass and Curt Taylor.
