Griffin
WAYCROSS — Mrs. Marie Yvonne Webster Griffin, 88, of Waycross, passed away Sunday morning, November 3, 2024, at Harborview — Pierce County Nursing Home.
The daughter of the late Jack Leon and Hildegard Albertine Yanke Webster, Mrs. Griffin was born March 3, 1936 in Minot, N.D., and lived in Jacksonville, Fla., for several years prior to moving to Ware County in 2018. Mrs. Griffin was a Registered Nurse, having worked in various locations throughout her career. She furthered her education and went into teaching where she had the honor of helping numerous students achieve their goal of becoming nurses.
In her later years, Mrs. Griffin was a homemaker who enjoyed collecting teacups and beautiful Christmas cards. She loved flowers and photographing them. Mrs. Griffin will be remembered as always being neat and tidy and very ladylike. She always made you feel so special by putting a lot of thought into the gifts/cards she would give you. Even though she wasn’t blessed with children of her own, she was very motherly to her many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Griffin was a member of First Baptist Church, Jacksonville.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Howard Kenneth “Ken” Griffin of Waycross; two sisters, Mavis Webster of Bloomington, Minn., and Sandy Stevenson of St. Paul, Minn.; three brothers, Melvin Webster of Bismark, N.D., Leon (Lindy) Webster of St. Paul, Minn., and Allen (Maureen) Webster of Dickinson, N.D.; a sisterin- law, Janice (Larry) Evans of Dupont; two brothers-in-law, Clinton Griffin of Waycross, and Jerry and Susie Griffin of Offerman; a special niece and caregiver, Brenda Griffin of Waycross; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mrs. Griffin were Saturday, November 9 in the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment was in New Home Cemetery.
