Members of Historic Antioch Baptist Church, Inc., honored retired educators during its worship service Sunday, November 3 as part of Georgia Retired Educators Day. The theme for this year’s observance is “Hats Off to Educators” which was the focus of a presentation by Dr. Linda Perry-Simpson during the service. Dr. Perry-Simpson said teachers wear many hats in the classroom, naming some of those in the address. To commemorate the theme, educators received a gift-wrapped, colorful mini hat filled with treats. Dr. Perry-Simpson raised her hat to her colleagues to conclude the presentation, which included the lighting of a memorial candle to remember deceased educators. Those recognized during the service were Maggie Sams, Romona Battle, Jean Robinson, Margaret Murphy, and Dr. Perry-Simpson.
