Sallet family has free dinner Nov. 21 The Sallet Family Thanksgiving Dinner will be held at noon, Thursday, November 21 at 818 Summit Street.

Family members have been providing free meals for the homeless and food insecure during the Thanksgiving season for 13 years.

Charlie Giving Back sets food giveaway Charlie Giving Back community outreach will stage a food giveaway from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, November 23 at E.E. Moore Park.

The first 300 will be served. Recipients need to bring boxes to carry away the items.

Volunteers sought for Bicentennial The Ware County Bicentennial Committee is seeking volunteers for its celebration events Friday-Sunday, December 13-15.

Help is needed from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Hours and responsibilities are flexible for volunteers. Registration in advance is requested.

Volunteers are need to assist with set up, clean up, stage changes, facilitating games, manning jump houses, assisting guests with information requests, sales counter (swag), and hospitality duties.

‘Taste of Chamber’ set November 21 The Waycross-Ware County Chamber of Commerce holds its annual “Taste of the Chamber” at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, November 21 at the C.C. Mc-Cray City Auditorium, 865 Pendleton Street.

The event brings together local restaurants and food services for a competition in a variety of culinary and beverage categories.

Sons of Revolution meets Nov. 16 The quarterly meeting of the Altamaha Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will be held at noon, Saturday, November 16, at Altamaha Steak and Seafood Restaurant, 362 N. First Street in Jesup.

Doc Watson will be the guest speaker in a program on Revolutionary War Brigadier General Daniel Morgan.

A genealogy workshop will be held after the meeting. Potential members are invited to attend.

Applications will be available and SAR members will assist potential members with genealogy research.

The Altamaha Chapter SAR is based in Jesup and serves the counties along the Altamaha River basin including Pierce, Ware and Brantley. SAR is a patriotic and fraternal organization dedicated to maintaining and extending the institutions of American freedom.

The men’s organization has a membership composed of descendants of Revolutionary War soldiers and those who helped the war effort. For more information, call Secretary-Treasurer Jason Deal at (912) 424-0750.

Legion Post 517 meets Nov. 20

American Legion Post 517, 710 Dorothy Street, holds a meeting for all officers and members at 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 20.
