The general run-off election for the United States Senate will take place next Tuesday, Dec. 6.
The only race on the ballot will be for the United States Senate between Democratic incumbent Raphael Warnock and Republican Hershel Walker, a former University of Georgia football star.
Warnock finished in first place by about 35,000 votes state-wide in the general election November 8 with 49.42 percent of the vote. Walker had 48.52 percent. A run-off is required because no candidate received more than 50 percent of the vote. Libertarian candidate Chase Oliver received about two percent of the vote statewide in the general election. Walker received over 88 percent of the vote in Pierce County.
The runoff election will be from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, at regular polling places in Pierce County including the NFC Gym in Blackshear, 705 College Avenue and Eagle Station, 3507 Williams Street, Patterson.
Early voting will continue through this Friday, Dec. 2, at the Pierce County Courthouse Annex, 312 Nichols Street, Blackshear. Early voting hours will be from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Local election officials said there will be no Saturday voting in Pierce County due to staff shortages. There will also be no early voting, Monday, Dec. 5.
