WAYCROSS — Mrs. Betty Joyce Tolbert, 89, wife of the late William Tolbert, Jr., passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at her residence in Waycross.
Mrs. Tolbert was born November 19, 1934 in Danville, Va., to the late Ruel Perryman Mitchell and Carrie Lee Meredith Mitchell.
Mrs. Tolbert was a member of Central Baptist
Tolbert
Church in Waycross. She was a kind, loving, understanding, caring, compass ionate Christian lady who never met a stranger and always was so giving. If Mrs. Tolbert gave you something, to her it was never enough, she would always give more.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tolbert was also preceded in death by two sisters, Eloise Stamper and Dorothy Shields; and three brothers, Bill Mitchell, Vernon Mitchell and Wayne Mitchell.
Surviving are a son, William Tolbert III (wife Shawn); two daughters, Wanda Marie Tolbert Taylor and Zina Michelle Ponsell; 14 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Saturday, November 2 at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment followed in Greenlawn Mausoleum.
