WAYCROSS — Mr. Jerry Allen Deweese, 80, died Monday morning October 28, 2024, at Memorial Satilla Health after a brief illness.

Deweese was born August 29, 1944 in Alma to the late Jessie Lamar Deweese and Ina Harper Deweese. He graduated from Ware County High School in 1964, and was affiliated with the Baptist faith.

In 2007, Deweese retired from Georgia Power Company as a winch truck operator after 42 years of service. He was known as the best winch truck operator around.

Deweese enjoyed talking politics and solving the world’s problems with friends, but he loved his family more than anything.

In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Deweese.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Lawanda Parr Deweese of Waycross; three children, Wendy Drury (Dwight) of Blackshear, Grant Deweese of Waycross and Deanna Brantley (Ryan) of Waycross; grandchildren, Hanna Newman (Brad) and Tanner Deweese; great grandchildren, Liza Jane Brantley, Saylor and Waylon Newman; special friend, Raymond Crews; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held Thursday, October 31 at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Kettle Creek Cemetery.
