Brooks
FOLKSTON — Patrick Glynn Brooks, age 91, of Folkston, passed away October 21, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born February 25, 1933, on Spanish Creek Road in Folkston, the son of Peter Grooms Brooks and Ila Herrin Brooks.
Brooks was a military veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He served on the Charlton County Board of Education, and was a member of the first Charlton County High School football team. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Folkston where he served as a Deacon and in many other leadership roles.
For 42 years, Brooks was a conductor for Atlantic Coastline Railroad, Seaboard Coastline Railroad, and CSX Transportation. He enjoyed farming, gardening, making cane syrup, mowing grass, and trips to the mountains of North Georgia and North Carolina. Brooks found great joy in time spent with his family, particularly his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Rosa Mae Todd Brooks, and three children, Keith (Pam) Brooks of Blackshear, Glynda Savage of Brunswick, and Kelly (Nancy) Brooks of Folkston; Seven grandchildren, Ryan (Heather) Savage, Patrick Brooks, Maura (Zach) Owens, Thomas (Hilary) Brooks, Brandon (Danielle) Savage; Hannah (Dylan) Sloan, and Taylor Brooks; 10 great grandchildren Rhett, Ben, Madden, Harrison, Eliza, Lawson, Margot, Clara, Anna, and Lily; and one sister, June B. King, of Atlantic Beach, Fla.
Brooks enjoyed life with Rosa Mae, the love of his life. His love for her was an example to all of Christ’s love for the Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 13 siblings, Victor Brooks, Bill Brooks, Pauline Crews, Gene Brooks, Guy Brooks, Eldo Brooks, Woodrow Brooks, Eula Crews, Cathleen Mock, Flo Mayo, Ora Strickland, Alma Day, and Irene Hart; a special nephew, Devoy Brooks, a son-in-law, Harry Savage; and his Army buddy and lifelong friend, Bill Kiger of Tobaccoville, N.C.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 25 at First Baptist Church in Folkston with Dr. Randy Jacoby officiating.

His grandchildren served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were the Deacons at First Baptist Church, and Charles and Debbe Arwood.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Folkston or Samaritan’s Purse for Hurricane Relief.
