Trull
BLACKSHEAR — Mr. W.D. (Donald) Trull, age 89, of Blackshear, passed away Friday afternoon, October 25, 2024, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross following a brief illness.
Born February 15, 1935, in Screven, Ga., he was a son of the late Geraldine Trull Farrow. Trull lived most of his life in Pierce County and was a veteran, having served in the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic during the Korean War.
A jack-of-all-trades, Trull always enjoyed working and doing many jobs. Starting young, he worked at Darling Funeral Home in Blackshear. Following his military years, Trull was a baggage handler for Railway Express Agency (REA), did many jobs at various trailer plants, worked as a mechanic, sold insurance for Gulf Life/American General/ Delta, was a tour guide for the Okefenokee Swamp Park, drove a school bus for the Pierce County Board of Education, and worked at the Pierce County Senior Center as a bus driver and delivered meals.
He enjoyed traveling and camping and built his own motorhome. Trull also enjoyed gardening and working in his yard and flowers, woodworking, trains, studying guns and old coins, and supporting Donald Trump.
From the mid-1960s to the mid-1980s, Trull and his family attended Kettle Creek Church in Waycross. They started attending Bethel Baptist Church in Blackshear in 1986 where he surrendered his life and heart to the Lord. In 2005, he and his wife joined Hacklebarney Baptist Church where he served faithfully as an usher, drove the van and attended the Senior Adult Sunday School class.
A Bible believing, Patriotic, gun-toting, hard and tough but loving man is how his family will forever remember him.
In addition to his mother, Trull was preceded in death by his stepfather, Vernon Farrow; a brother, Charles Aspinwall; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Dean and Willene Hendrix; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Dot Hendrix Trull of Blackshear; four daughters, Angie Trull Crews of Waycross, Donna Trull Carter (husband Bobby) of Blackshear, Deanna Trull Lewis (husband Charles) of Blackshear, and Linda Trull Brock (husband Brian) of Alpharetta, Ga.; nine grandchildren, Christopher Lewis (Kimmie Willson), Cassie (Mickey) Thornton, Jason Lewis, James (Stella) Lewis, Haley (Brent) Walker, Samantha (Anthony) White, Sarah (Blake) Davis, Katie Bennett, Lawson Brock (fiancé Courtney Terrell); 13 great grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; sister, Martha Frick (husband Wayne) of Waresboro; brother-inlaw, Hershel Hendrix of Blackshear; two sisters-inlaw, Dell Aspinwall of Brunswick and Pam Hendrix of Dry Branch; special friend, Scottie Durance of Blackshear; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
see OBITS, Page 5A A funeral service was held Monday at Hacklebarney Baptist Church with the Rev. Monroe Gill and the Rev. Joe Dell officiating. Burial followed in the Kettle Creek Cemetery.
