Eugene Curtis Davis

LAKE CITY, Fla. — Celebration of life for an amazing man, Eugene Curtis Davis, transformed to a new home of peace on September 11, 2024, in Lake City, Florida.

Davis was born on ABC Avenue in Waycross to the parentage of the late Elizabeth Wright Davis and Bishop Ernest Davis on September 3, 1939. He walked this earth for 85 years touching the lives of so many.

Davis was the life of the party, always dancing and singing with a contagious smile. He never met a stranger, everyone was a friend. In high school, he played football and was known as “Ghost.” Davis was skilled in karate and judo. Many knew him as Curt, EC, Dad, Papa, Grandad, or the little man who didn’t play about his daughters. He enjoyed serving the community whenever help was needed.

Davis was the grandson of the late Rev. J.S. Davis and Lula P. Davis. He graduated from Center High School in 1959, attended Penn State University, and served in the United States Navy on the USS ESSEX (CVS-9).

His career was in hotel management out of Atlanta and law enforcement in Waycross. Early in life, Davis met his soulmate and was joined in holy matrimony of 64 years to Armetha D. Reid, with whom he was blessed with four girls.

Those left to cherish his memory include a devoted and loving wife, Armetha Reid Davis of Waycross; his children, Tonya Pierce, Deltona, Fla.; Monique M. Davis of Atlanta; Eligia C. Lowham (Keith), Reston, Va.; Victoria E.
