The Pierce County Bear football team hosted the Laney Wildcats on November 11, winning 42-14. The Bears improve to 10-1 overall. The Bears will host Berrien in the second round of the AA State Playoffs Friday, November 18. The game is set to start at 7:30 p.m.
The match-up with the Berrien Rebels will be the 12 contest between the two schools dating back to October 9, 1981. The Bears will look to even the series at six games each having won the last two match-ups. The most recent games between the two teams was played on October 3, 2003 and was a 33-19 win for the Bears. Berrien is currently 7-4 overall and finished 3-3 in Region 1-AA. The Rebels lost to Clinch County 19-18 on August 19, beat Atkinson County 41-19 on August 26, won against Bacon 34-14 on September 2, defeated Lanier County 14-10 on September 9, lost to Worth County 56-46 on September 23, defeated Jeff Davis 42-24 on September 28, defeated Sumter County 38-36 on October 7, lost to Cook 45-28 on October 14, defeated Dodge County 35-29 on October 28, lost to Fitzgerald 34-20 on November 4 and defeated Spencer 43-36 on November 11.

The Bears opened the scoring on a 68-yard run by DJ Bell and following the extra point by Jonah Allen led 7-0 with 11:39 remaining in the first quarter.
Bell connected on a six-yard pass to Matthew Taylor to increase the lead to 14-0, following the kick by Allen, at the 8:01 mark in the first quarter.
Bell scored on a six-yard run with 20.6 seconds remaining in the first quarter to increase the lead to 21-0 after Allen added the extra point.
Laney scored on an eight-yard run and added a two-point conversion to get within 21-8 with 3:41 left in the second quarter.
Wade DiBiase scored on a 31-yard pass from Bell making the score 28-8 at halftime.
Bell scored on a three-yard run with 10:34 remaining in the third quarter. Allen converted the extra point making the score 35-8.
Bell added an eight-yard run at the 10:11 mark in the fourth quarter and with the extra point by Allen led 42-8.
Laney scored on a 32-yard pass with 6:50 left in the fourth quarter but failed to convert the two-point conversion to make the final score 42-14.
