We celebrate another great week in Bearville, starting with Bears football! Congrats to senior D.J. Bell, who rushed for 178 yards in the regular season finale, a win over Tattnall, in which D.J. became the first player in PCHS history to top 5,000 career rushing yards!

This Friday, PCHS will host Laney in the first round of the state playoffs. Tickets are available online at GoFan.co. Some paper tickets will be available at the gate. Current reserved season ticket holders can come in today (Wednesday) from 11:00-1:00 (front entrance of PCHS). All remaining reserved tickets will be sold to the general public on Thursday from 11:00-1:00. Reserved tickets are $15. PCHS will recognize area veterans at the game Friday.

Congratulations to the PCHS girls’ cross country team for their showing at last weekend’s state meet in Carrollton. PCHS finished 16th in the state and was the 2nd-highest finishing team from Region 3-AA. Yuri Gaona was the top finisher for PCHS with a time of 24:11. Natalie Daniels, Neveah Grant, Ana Llmaas-Diaz, Maya Cochran, Becky Thigpen, and Rylin Richie all competed for PCHS. Congrats to these Lady Bears and Coach Leighanne Hersey.

We also salute Coach Mandy Beverly and the competition cheer squad for capturing the Region 3-AA championship in Putnam County last Saturday! This weekend, the Cheer Bears will travel to Macon to compete for the state title.

Thursday at 7 p.m. is your chance to see the award-winning PCHS Sound of Silver Marching Band perform their annual Veteran’s Day concert. Admission to that event is free.

Also Thursday comes a chance for all you Cave Crazies to see this year’s Bears and Lady Bears
basketball teams live in action for the first time. It will be a doubleheader against Brooks County, starting with the girls at 5:30. This game will not be broadcast, so come show out loud and proud! Admission is $5.

Coastal Pines Technical College’s Waycross campus will hold its first-ever open house this Thursday, November 10 from 5-7 p.m. Anyone is invited to attend. That day will also be a free application day for students wishing to enroll at Coastal Pines.

The PCHS Swim Bears are back in the water Friday in a road meet against Thomas County.

The cast and crew of the region title winning one-act play Silent Sky will compete for a state title this Saturday morning at 9 a.m. in Warner Robins. Silent Sky is based on the life and work of Henrietta Leavitt, a pioneer in astronomy.

The next FFA meeting will be Wednesday, November 16, immediately after school in the Ag room. FFA members, also mark your calendars for the FFA Christmas Party, set for December 16 on Jekyll Island. See Mr. Ratliff or Mr. Prescott if you have questions.
Juniors and seniors, make plans now to attend the College Fair at PCHS on Thursday, November 17 from 5:30 until 7:00. You can sign up today at registerprobe.com. More than 30 colleges and universities are scheduled to be on hand, including the University of Alabama, Mississippi State University, and the United States Naval Academy.
Seniors, South Georgia State College is waiving their application fee during the month of November for those seniors who plan to enroll after graduation. See Mr. Tommy or Mrs. Angie for more.

PCHS wrestling opens the season November 17 at Charlton County. The home opener is November 22 against Brantley County and Long County

FCA meets every Thursday morning at 7:45 in the auditorium. Everyone is invited to attend and to bring a friend. It’s a great way to start your day
