Drug takeback slated Oct. 26

Memorial Satilla Health in partnership with Ware County Sheriff’s Office and Waycross Exchange Club will host Crush the Crisis, a national prescription drug takeback day, from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, October 26 at the Exchange Club Fairgrounds, 2335 Knight Avenue.

Officials will accept unused or expired medication for safe disposal. Accepted items include tablets or capsules in any packaging, patches, medicated ointments, lotions or drops, liquid medications (in leak-proof containers), vape cartridges, (without batteries), and pet medications.

No needles, syringes, lancets or illegal drugs will be accepted.

Fall festival is Sat. at Memorial Park The Ware County Recreation Department hosts its Fall Festival from 2 to 5 p.m., Saturday, October 26 at Memorial Park, 1300 South Georgia Parkway.

Admission is free. There will be hay rides, face painting, bounce houses, funnel cakes, a cake walk and concessions available. Call (912) 287-4488 or (912) 287-4491.

Unison schedules meetings Oct. 23 Unison Behavioral Health has scheduled two meetings for today (Wednesday, October 23) in its offices at 1007 Mary Street.

The Bylaws Committee will meet at 11:45 a.m. followed by the Board of Directors at noon. The meetings are open to the public.

MSH offers Sat. mammograms

Memorial Satilla Health will offer Saturday mammogram appointments in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.

Ware Rec. Dept. has Senior Dance The Ware County Recreation Department will hold a Senior Dance from 7 to 10 p.m., on Saturday, November 9 at the Trembling Earth Complex, 2110 Recreation Drive.

Library Board sets two meetings The Okefenokee Regional Library Board will meet at 3:30 and 4 p.m., Monday, November 4 at the Waycross-Ware County Public Library, 401 Lee Avenue.

Cox-Fitchett family has reunion Nov. 2 Members of the Alfred Cox-John Fitchett family will hold a reunion Saturday, November 2 at Obediah’s Okefenoke, 5115 Swamp Road.

Lunch will be spread noon-12:30 p.m. All attendees should bring a covered dish, utensils and paper goods furnished.

DC Downtown has food ministry DC Downtown Food Ministry offers food items from a 5,000-square foot warehouse at 201 Jenkins Street from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

The ministry serves people from more than a dozen counties in southeast Georgia and north Florida.

Breakfast & bingo at Ware Rec. Dept.

The Ware County Recreation Department is offering breakfast and bingo for senior citizens each Wednesday and Friday at the Trembling Earth Sports Complex, 2100 Cecil Brown Drive.

Hospice Satilla honors veterans Hospice Satilla will honor veterans at a dinner at 6 p.m. Thursday, November 7 at the Stephens Venue, 773 Ossie Davis Parkway.

Retired Army Sgt. Major Tonya Oxendine will be the keynote speaker. Reservations are required by Saturday, October 19. The evening will include door prizes and a catered dinner.
