Lamar Devaughn Deal

WAYCROSS — Lamar Devaughn Deal, 69, of Waycross died Friday evening, September 27, 2024, at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla., after a brief illness.

Deal was born in Moultrie to the late Gilbert Deloy Deal and Wanda Thrift Carpenter. He made Waycross his home for more than 40 years.

Service Representative with (formerly) Logisticare, but his true calling was as a stand-up comic. He traveled all over entertaining people and worked with such noted comics as Jeff Foxworthy, Brett Butler, Darryl Rhodes, Billy Gardell, Rick Papaleo and Leonard Stoehr.

He worked locally as a tour guide for Okefenokee Adventures, and was an avid aviation enthusiast. Deal loved studying and reading history, the Bible, and about politics. He also enjoyed music and crossword puzzles.

In addition to his parents, Deal was also preceded in death by siblings, Gilbert L. Deal, Kay Ryan Cole, and Shirley Deal Welch.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Griffin of Waycross; two children, Joshua Terrell of Jacksonville, Fla., and Jessica Morales (husband Jovan) of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Evan Terrell, Tristan Morales, Julian Morales, Jocelyn Morales; two siblings, Ivey Deal (wife Darlene) of Phoenix, Ariz., and Sheila Gadd of Hendersonville, Tenn.; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 12 in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
