Meloni Gebhart Simpson

WAYCROSS — Mrs. Meloni Gebhart Simpson, 65, of Waycross, died Monday, September 30, 2024, at Ascension St. Vincent’s in Jacksonville, Fla., after a brief illness.

Mrs. Simpson was born April 5, 1959 in Pasadena, Texas.

She graduated from Olympic High School in Charlotte, N.C., in 1977. Mrs. Simpson then attended King’s Business College in Charlotte.

Mrs. Simpson moved to Waycross in July of 1985 where she worked as the Property and HUD Manager for Terrace Gard e n Apartments. She was an active member of Hoboken Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir, active in the children’s choir, and served the church in numerous other capacities.

Mrs. Simpson loved her family and her animals. She cherished any moment she was able to spend with them. Mrs. Simpson will forever be remembered for her kind, compassionate, caring and generous spirit.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Britt Griffin and Nora Gwatney Griffin; and one brother, John Gebhart.

She is survived by her husband, Archie Simpson of Waycross; two sons, Archie Simpson II of Statesboro and Wesley Simpson (Kristy) of Waycross; one granddaughter, Kasen Guinn of Waycross; three siblings, Deanna Jones of Columbus, Ohio, Britt Griffin (Jennifer) of Cherryville, N.C., and Cindy Lee (James) of Hoboken; sister-in-law, Judy Gebhart; nieces and nephews, Scotty Lee (Reba), Jeremy Deese (Kelsey), Jona Gebhart, Jessica McWhorter, Chap Gebhart (Heather), Casey Gebhart, Cole Lee (Lindsey), Ethan Simpson, Cici Rhyner, Rachael Rhyner and Kayla Simpson; and numerous other relatives.

A memorial service was held Friday, October 4 in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel.
