Georgia Elise Bennett

Mrs. Georgia Elise Bennett, 88, died Saturday morning, October 5, 2024, at Hospice House Satilla after an extended illness.

She was born April 7, 1936 in Ware County to the late Lonnie A.

Woodard and Edith Shoppe Woodard.

Mrs. Bennett gradu ated from Wacona High School.

She was employed by CSX Railroad for 16 years.

Mrs. Bennett was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Southern Forest World, Waycross Woman’s Club, and the Pinecone Garden Club. She loved cooking, gardening, taking cuttings, and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bennett was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Lewis W. Bennett, Sr.; her siblings, Jack Woodard, Billy Woodard, Dawson Woodard and Vera Sikes; brother-inlaw, Julian (Bud) Bennett; and sister-in-law, Geneva Bennett.

Survivors include her children, Windel Bennett, Chad Bennett (Jennifer) and Kim Bennett Callahan (Paul); grandchildren, Hannah and Parker Bennett, Lauren and JoJo Callahan, Jenna Bryson and Ashton Rowell; sister, Lawanna Craven (late Milton); brother, Ronnie Woodard (Beth); brothers- in-law, David H. Bennett (Sandra) and Cotton Bennett (Sharon); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held Tuesday, October 8 at Greenlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice Satilla, 808 Evergreen Way, Waycross, 31501.
