Samuel Jimmy Cribbs

WAYCROSS — Samuel Jimmy Cribbs, 82, of Waycross died Saturday afternoon, October 5, 2024, at his residence after a short illness.

He was born in Clinch County to the late Hance and Nezzie Melton Cribbs, and was a graduate of Clinch County High School.

Cribbs lived in Ware County most of his life where he retired from Smurfit Stone. He was a

member of Kettle Creek Congregational Methodist Church.

Cribbs loved to hunt and was a member of Wolf Bay Hunting Club in Echols County.

Along with his parents, Cribbs was also preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Hance Cribbs; four sisters, Margie Vanilla Harris, Annette Cribbs, the Rev. Sarah Cribbs Deese and Sherry Colburn Watson.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Frances Moore Cribbs of Waycross; two children, Jimmy Darryl Cribbs (wife Janice) of Waycross and Frances Darlene Cribbs of Waycross; two grandchildren, Jennifer Cribbs Cone (husband Brad) of Waycross, and James Darryl Cribbs (wife Tanjela) of Blackshear; five great grandchildren, Maicee, Jase, Leanna, Bradlee, and Hayleigh; two greatgreat grandchildren, Saylor and Waylon; one sister, Vera Henderson of Needmore, Ga.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, October 8 at Kettle Creek Congregational Methodist Church. Burial followed in Kettle Creek Cemetery.
