Members of Destination Church served more than 1,000 hot meals Thursday evening, October 3 with Here to Serve. The meal distribution was part of the DC Downtown food ministry at 201 Jenkins Street which offers bags of food and personal toiletries from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Some of Thursday’s servers were (l-r) Betsy and Tripp Freeman, Paula Tuten, Lynleigh and Hannah Evers and Teresa Battle. Numerous area churches and other organizations have prepared and distributed meals and snacks ranging from a full breakfast to a meat-and-sides dinner and drink since Hurricane Helene passed through September 26-27.
