Ernest Jones gives out tickets for meals

Waycross native Ernest Jones (left photo) and members of the Ernest Jones IV Foundation provided hot meals to the Waycross community Thursday, October 3 at Bit Tanner Field. Jones, a Tennessee Titans NFL player, returned home on the Titans bye week and gave out close to 400 tickets for free meals from food trucks gathered at the field following Hurricane Helene. “When my community is hurting and I have the means and the ability to do so, I want to help out as much as I can,” Jones said. “I told God when I was blessed with this opportunity (to play in the NFL) I would always come back and help. This is just another extension of Him that I’m able to come out here and just be a blessing to others.” Jones was an all-state player at Ware County High School before playing three seasons as a linebacker at the University of South Carolina. He was taken in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams, where he won the Super Bowl as a rookie. He was traded earlier this year to Tennessee. His foundation holds an annual back-to-school give away and donates Thanksgiving meals to the community.
