Ware County inmates kept safe during storm

Ware County Jail Corporal S. McCauley reported inmates were safe and well taken care of the night of Hurricane Helene.

“That night was unbelievable, but we made it through,” said McCauley. “We locked the jail down so we could do counts and make sure the inmates were safe. They are our top priority.

“We made sure our security was up to standards and did all our security checks. The inmates were understanding and grateful we were attentive to them. If we had fresh water, they had fresh water. If anything were to happen, our nurse was on point to assist. They were safe and taken care of.”
