Chamber sponsors scarecrow scenes The Waycross-Ware County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring Swamptown Scarecrows during the month of October to spark some fun among businesses while enhancing our public image.
Any business can participate with registration for your “Scarecrow Scene” $15 for chamber members and $25 for non-members. Scenes will be judged during the month with winners announced at month’s end.

Ware BOE holds meetings Oct. 7-8 The Ware County Board of Education holds its regular monthly meetings Monday-Tuesday, October 7-8.
Both meetings will be at 6 p.m. and open to the public at the board offices, 1301 Bailey Street. A work session will be held Monday followed Tuesday with the business meeting.

CPTC Foundation car show set Oct. 5 Coastal Pines Technical College Foundation will stage the second annual Stingray Car Show from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, October 5 at 1701 Carswell Avenue.
Entry is free with awards given in sport bike, cruiser, new school, old school, people’s choice and President’s Award. There also will be food, snack and beverage vendors in addition to the vehicles and motor bikes.
Thrift-Tatum has reunion Oct. 6 The annual Thrift-Tatum family reunion will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Obediah’s Okefenok Event Center, 5115 Swamp Road.
Attendees should bring a covered dish for the luncheon, which will be spread about 12:45 p.m. There will be a raffle of prizes donated by attendees.
Lee family slates reunion Oct. 6 The descendants of James F. and Nancy Griffin Lee will hold their annual family reunion from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, October 6, at the Hoboken Community Center, 294 Chicago Avenue, Hoboken.
A business meeting will be held at 12:15 p.m., followed by lunch. Attendees should bring a covered dish and beverage.

DC Downtown has food ministry DC Downtown Food Ministry offers food items from a 5,000-square foot warehouse at 201 Jenkins Street from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
The ministry serves people from more than a dozen counties in southeast Georgia and north Florida.
