More than 700 church members and friends had a double celebration Sunday, September 15 at Blackshear First Baptist Church. The church’s annual Homecoming observance was highlighted by the 40th birthday of the Rev. Dr. Justin Gambrell, FBC’s pastor. The Homecoming worship service featuring a message by the Rev. Danny Singleton of Crosspoint Baptist Church, Cleveland, Tenn., was followed by a grand southern meal in a decorated fellowship hall. Central to the decorations was a special table where hundreds of birthday cards were in a tall box to honor the pastor. A “Happy Birthday” sign, a tall chocolate cake topped with the number “40” and other birthday symbols highlighted the table. Gambrell and wife Amy are the parents of Jackson, Colson and Madison. He has been at FBC for nearly three years.
