Special to the WJH Memorial Satilla Health offers Saturday mammogram appointments in October in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness.
Hours for the examinations will be 8 a.m. to noon. To schedule an appointment or for information, call (912) 287-2650.
Breast cancer remains one of the most common cancers affecting women, but with early screening and advancements in medical care, survival rates continue to improve. One in eight women in the United States will develop invasive breast cancer.
Regular mammograms can reduce breast cancer mortality by 20-40 percent in women age 40-up.
“We encourage all women to prioritize their health by scheduling regular mammograms and performing self-exams,” said Brenda O’Steen, VP of Operations at Memorial Satilla. “Early detection saves lives, and we’re here to support you every step of the way.”
The hospital holds a reception and Survivor Recognition Ceremony at 6 p.m. Thursday, October 3 in the main lobby to start the observance.
“As we observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we stand together in support of those affected by breast cancer — patients, survivors, families, and friends,” Chief Executive Officer Dale Neely said. “ Our team is committed to providing compassionate care and support for early detection.”
