Tatum DESTREHAN, La. — Gloria Jean Tatum, age 79, of Destrehan, La., passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2024.
Ms. Tatum was born May 19, 1945 in Waycross t o Rudolph V. and Margaret “Maggie” (Tyre) Tatum.
Preceded in death by her parents, Ms.
Tatum is survived by her devoted sister, Margie Tatum Morton; her nephews Christopher Morton (Connie) and Walter Morton, Jr., as well as great nephews Christopher Morton, II (Alyssa), Conner Morton and Tanner Morton; great nieces Tess Morton and Cassie LaRocca; great-great nephew Ethan Trapp; and her cat, Sam.
Ms. Tatum grew up in Waycross, graduating from Waycross High School. During her career, she was a medical technician. Ms. Tatum loved her pets and enjoyed owning horses. Although Ms. Tatum’s life was not without struggle, it did not stop her infectious laughter or loving and generous personality. She was full of life and brought immense joy to those around her.
The family would like to express its sincere appreciation to Chris and Connie Morton, who were always there for her. Additionally, Ms. Tatum’s caretaker and loving friend of 23 years, Aracelli Bolanos, who was always there to help her life be full of flowers, laughter, pets, and gardens. Her caretaker Rachel Guillory was only with her a short time, but continued that same loving care. The family is greatly appreciative for helping Ms. Tatum live her life to the fullest.
A funeral service was held Friday, September 20 at Grace Funeral Home in Covington, La.
Burial followed the services in St. Lazarus of Bethany Memorial Garden.
