WAYCROSS — Ms. Peggy King Chastain, 71, of Waycross died Friday, September 20, 2024, at her residence from a brief illness.
Ms. Chastain was born in Waycross to the late William Jackson King and Winnie Lee Crews King. Mrs. Chastain had made Waycross her home for most of her life. She was a homemaker who enjoyed any moment she was able to spend with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Along with her parents, Ms. Chastain was preceded in death by her siblings, Charles King, Pete King, Vernon King, Milton King, Gladys Holiday, and Josephine Johnson.
Ms. Chastain is survived by three sons, Adam “Simon” Hendricks (Debra) of Waycross, Tim Hendricks (Karen) of Brantley County, and Keith Hendricks (Tonia) of Waycross; nine grandchildren, Davy Smith (Desirae), Jamie Smith (Staci), Jennifer Herrin (Demory), Kevin “Bam-Bam” Mullis (Jessica), Kalee Hendricks, Derek Hendricks, Damon Hendricks, Abeni Hendricks, and Brycen Hendricks; one sister, Carolyn Millhorn (J.R.) of Waycross; one brother, Mike King (Carol) of Waycross; a special friend, Ronnie Mobley of Waycross; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday, September 25) at Kettle Creek Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10 a.m. today.
