Charlie Giving Back sets food giveaway Charlie Giving Back community outreach will stage a food giveaway from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, September 28 at E.E. Moore Park.

The first 300 will be served. Recipients need to bring boxes to carry away the items.

Greater St. Paul has Family, Friends Day Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1110 Pittman Street, will observe Family and Friends Day with a special program at 11 a.m. Sunday, September 29.

The worship will be a congregational service with an array of talents on display.

Pearson churches team for service Two area churches are combining to host a Fall Harvest Celebration at 11 a.m. Sunday, September 29.

Kirkland Church and Pearson Traditional Methodist Church will team to stage the celebration at Pearson Traditional Methodist, 54 East Roberts Avenue.

The “fifth Sunday” program will include lots of singing, a short sermonette and be followed by a covered dish dinner, said Brother Gary Griffin, pastor at both churches.

The covered dish meal will be furnished by the attendees and will be served in the Pearson social hall.

Grace Episcopal talks Taylor book Grace Episcopal Church, 401 Pendleton Street, will host a book study of Holy Envy: Finding God in the Faith of Others by renowned author and Episcopal priest Barbara Brown Taylor.

Victory Methodist sets Homecoming Victory Methodist Church, 5062 Booth Church Road in Manor, celebrates Homecoming with a special program at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, October 6.

A meal will follow the service. The celebration begins a week of worship at the church with revival services at Monday-Wednesday, October 7-9. Program will be held each day at 7 p.m. with Dr. John Powell serving as guest evangelist.

Women’s worship program set Oct. 5

The program, “When Women Worship” will be held at 7 p.m., Saturday, October 5 at 702 Ossie Davis Parkway.

Host for the event is Renae Sellers with Ensemble Director Kimberly Lee, Guest Psalmist Pastor Tammie Watson and Speaker Apostle Turnkeisa Rushin.

Gospel of John subject of study

Victorious Living Bible Institute will stage a free eight-week study of the Gospel of John beginning Tuesday, October 8.

Bishop Ronald K. Reed will serve as facilitator for the 7 p.m. weekly program delivered live via Zoom. Renae Sellers is the course coordinator.

Antioch Baptist sets anniversary picnic

Historic Antioch Baptist Church, 615 Knight Avenue, is involving the community in its 154th anniversary celebration with a picnic Sunday, October 20.

All are invited to the event from noon to 2 p.m. on the church grounds. In addition to food and fellowship, there will be games, prizes, and a 50-50 raffle.

All food will be provided by the church. Dress is outdoor casual.

DC Downtown has food ministry DC Downtown Food Ministry offers food items from a 5,000-square foot warehouse at 201 Jenkins Street from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

The ministry serves people from more than a dozen counties in southeast Georgia and north Florida.

Higher Heights has food ministry The food ministry of Higher Heights True Word of God offers items from 9 to 11 a.m., the first Thursday of each month at 979 Tebeau Street.

Next giveaway is October 3. The program is accepting donations.
